I was very happy to chat to Christine, a member of this Social Leadership Daily Community, on Monday. We had originally met through the very first Quiet Leadership programme, and we have remained connected by ideas, over distance, through time.
This type of social tie, which holds strong through curiosity and sharing, despite geography (Christine is in Canada) and context (the Pandemic), is a core feature of the Social Age, and hence Social Leadership more generally.
We are connected, radically so. And through that connection we can evolve our thinking, over time.
It leaves us with two challenges: firstly, to curate our network, to ensure it is diverse and broad, and secondly, to always remember that the network we can see is but a shadow of the broader structure. To remember that we should always strive to reach further, to reach into the silence.
Use your sixty seconds today to consider how you are connected: how many people have you known a long time, and which are new - how did you meet - indeed have you ever ‘met’ - and what value do you find in this group of people? Finally: is that value through the initial encounter, or does it mature over time?

Thanks for the cool shout-out Julian! I really enjoyed our conversation and look forward to sharing it in next week's episode of The Cookie Jar! I'll share the link here when it's live.
