We live in bubbles: our social structures and tribes, our local communities and organisations. Within these spaces, we hear stories, but not necessarily the whole story.
Part of our membership of these spaces is to belong, to conform, to believe, and so, between us, we construct the versions of the story that we believe in, together. And this comforts us and strengthens our bonds.
But it’s not the whole story: between tribes and groups the stories may be very similar, but subtly different. And may be invisible to each other.
As a Social Leader, we will lead at the intersection of systems: between us and them, between difference and dissent, between similarity and opposition.
Use your sixty seconds today to consider which stories you hear, and whether you hear the whole story.
And how would you even know?
The ability to hear a broader range of stories within different spaces may be confusing, frustrating even. But it also makes us stronger: not seeing difference and dissent is not the same thing as not having it.
Our Community of global explorers around this work has grown to 324 this week: welcome if you have just joined us. Next week i will be sharing some news on community events and other resources. I hope you all have a great weekend.
