We take action in the light, but our impact may land in the shadows: this is one way of understanding how differences exist in our systems. Good people, acting together at scale, and yet within a culture that falls short of what we desire. Because perhaps culture is a judgement upon actions, not deterministic of them.
Use your sixty seconds today to think about the shadow: how do you know how your action lands?
A shadow may be cast because we look for our impact in the wrong place, or because the impact is hidden from us, it may be because we see something but misunderstand how it has landed, or that people do not believe that they can tell us the truth. Maybe there is not enough trust, or trust has been broken before.
The shadow is not inherently bad: we cast it precisely because we act i the light. But nonetheless, none of us has the ability to see every part of a system. There are always shadows.
