Day #148

Elasticity

I was back in a room in front of ‘real’ people yesterday, for the first time in two years.

I found it interesting how old behaviours just snapped back: it seems easy to be online, and easy to be crowded together, but hard to find the behaviours and social protocols that bridge the gap. I simply did not know what to do: should i present the session wearing a mask? Or just give up on the whole thing.

When we lack clarity, we tend to conform, and hence we snapped back to what we know. To be the ‘odd one out’ carries a social cost.

Use your sixty seconds today to consider this: in which ways do you conform - is it always subconscious, or sometimes conscious?

And how do you rehearse, or prototype, or discuss, new ways to be?

Often people lack rehearsal spaces to try new ways of being themselves, and hence we are stuck in our glorious present.
