Yesterday i ran a Campfire around Empathy and Accountability: we talked about it like one of the lubricants of social systems, a force that enables us to project understanding onto others, to better know their context, and to adapt our behaviour as a result.
But we also considered how you need to ‘know’ something of the other in order to empathise: if you don’t know their context, you cannot know what they need.
Use your sixty seconds today to consider how you know others: both the people you know in real life, and those beyond your social connection.
As a leader, your duty of care extends to everyone in an Organisation, not simply the people you know and like.
What are your mechanisms or approaches to discover the ‘other’?
There are a whole new Season of Campfires coming up: you can find out more here, as well as details of the Community Gathering around this Social Leadership Daily work.
