Day #158

Local Imperfection

Remaining with our theme this week of exploring imperfection, in our leadership and our selves.

Use your sixty seconds today to identify something that you tolerate, but which you know in your heart could be better.

Who does this impact: you, your team, your tribe, or strangers?

Our ability to tolerate things which are not right, but not wrong enough to care about, causes an overall pollution in our ecosystem. And sometimes the effects are differentially experienced.

For example: if the bus timetable at the stop at the end of my road is vandalised, it’s unsightly, but i don’t use the buses, so i’m not really impacted. But others are, and some people rely on the buses as they have no car.

Within Organisations the types of things that we tolerate may be inefficient systems or processes, or rules that impact people differently depending on seniority or location.

In the Social Leadership Handbook, the first thing i asked people to do was to look around and see what they wanted to change. A good place to start is the things most local to us.
