Welcomed

I was reminded yesterday that in the ‘Landscape of Communities’ research, people described how important it was that they had been welcomed into communities that ended up being highly valued.

Use your sixty seconds today to script or rehearse your choreography of welcome: do you welcome people with introductions, with offers, with rules, or context? Is welcoming a purely discretionary activity, or coordinated within a group.

When i asked a group today about this, they said ‘it’s everyone’s responsibility’, which is sometimes how things end up as nobody’s responsibility.

Yesterday and today we have been considering aspects of belonging: whilst this may happen by chance, it’s worth considering your responsibility, as a Social Leader, to support it by design as well.
