Day #196

Change

Heading home through London yesterday i was struck by the changes: many shuttered units, familiar shopfronts closed down, brand names left as nothing more than the shadows in the dirt of the fascia.

The city survives, but the sense of place has changed.

I have no doubt that these units will fill: there will be new coffee shops, co-working spaces, and chain restaurants, new jewellers and even bookshops. A new iteration of the same city.

Things change around us all the time, but the pandemic created a fracture point, and also the separation of time, making the change more stark and visible.

Use your sixty seconds today to consider how you experience change.

Does it tend to be constant friction, attrition, or movement, or in broader steps or fragmentation?

Do you even notice it at all?

Sometimes almost everything changes and we barely notice. At other times almost nothing seems familiar at all.
