Within an Organisation, we may all belong in the same team structures, but that does not mean that we are all connected in the same ways.
Some people we tend to know better, or have spoken to more recently: we may like them more, or simply have more opportunities to share the small and safe stories that form the foundations for our friendships and trust.
Look at the team around you, and consider where the light of those relationships is cast, and where the shadows lie: who are you connected to, but do not know well.
Is there someone in your team who you have not connected to for a while?
Shadows are not a bad thing: we can each only maintain a certain number of meaningful relationships, but equally as a Social Leader we need to ensure that nobody falls from the shadow into the dark.
Use your sixty seconds today to look at your shadows: see if you can visualise how well you know the daily reality of each of those people in your team.
If you want to invest an additional sixty seconds, reach out to one person who lies outside your immediate group with a simple question: with an offer, a request, a simple coffee hangout, or a story to share.
