Last week i shared that i was starting some new work exploring ‘identity’, and it had a huge response. I have around fifty people signed up to take part in the initial interviews and work and will be sharing more details soon.
Even in these earliest conversations, some trends emerge: most people believe that they have more than one identity, and that nobody knows them all. This reinforces the idea that we are a different ‘self’ in different spaces.
I wonder if those different selves can achieve different things?
In the early stages of research i normally prototype a wide range of questions, and look for the ones that give diverse answers - to identity areas of divergence, which can be the rich areas to explore.
Use your sixty seconds today to consider which is your most important identity, and whether that would be clear to people from the outside.
And perhaps to wonder which identity you see of others - and whether it’s the one they really inhabit most strongly.
