I sat in the sunshine outside a little coffee shop near to me yesterday, chatting with Jack who runs it: he has led a life of impermanence - always moving, originally from Barbados, then Miami and up to San Francisco, then London and down South. He describes his life in stories of chapters: people he has met and places he has been.
And he describes the future the same way, which is strange to me: whilst his coffee shop is only a year old, he clearly said how he would have closed it within five years and moved back to the Caribbean, or somewhere else.
I find it odd: i have been planting trees in my garden, thinking about how they will look in decades to come: i am putting down roots whilst he considers lifting them.
Use your sixty seconds today to consider what permanence you live within: what is stable, and what moves. And where do you find comfort?
