Day 218

Perspectives

It’s important to know where you stand: not what you stand for, but where you stand within the landscape, within the system. Are you on a hill, or in the valleys?

Use your sixty seconds today to consider this: where do you stand and hence what view do you have in front of you?

Clearly none of us have the whole view, but are you at least clear on the perspective that you hold?

And do you know people who have the other views - is everyone in your community on the same hilltop as the one you stand on, or can you access diverse perspectives?

I was reminded of this recently when i ran a session that brought together people from across the strata of an Organisation: senior and junior ones, with six months tenure right up to over forty years. One of the most junior people asked me not to put them together with a senior person, because they were not important enough to take up their time.

All i thought was: would they be lucky enough to hear your perspective?
