Day #235

Motion

My friend Donald Clarke regularly argues that ‘leadership’ is not really a thing, and he may be right. It’s important not to get too caught up in language and ideas, lest we become dogmatic.

For me, it’s a useful term, but i hope not a restrictive one: we can consider our ‘forma’ and ‘social’ leadership, and by doing so we can learn how to lead at the intersection of the two.

This is an abstraction, but like the best abstractions, hopefully a useful one.

Perhaps what really matters most is to be in motion: reflection and action.

Use your sixty seconds today to consider this: are you in motion, or simply busy?

Busyness can shield us from the real need, whatever we choose to call it.
