Day #259

Transitions

There’s a new exhibition going in at the Guggenheim museum in New York. I know this, because you can buy tickets to go and see it: to see it being installed. The Guggenheim does not shut for changeovers, instead allowing you to witness the transformation (and you can trade your ‘transition’ ticket for a discount against the final exhibition when it opens).

I kind of like this approach: to take your construction into performance. So that got me thinking about the different spaces that we inhabit, and when, how, and why, we keep them separate.

My own practice, of #WorkingOutLoud is not dissimilar: it’s a way of breaking down the barriers between ‘learning’ and ‘performance’. But it would not work in every context.

Use your sixty seconds today to consider this: in your own Organisation, would it be feasible to allow people ‘in’ to see the learning, to witness the change in progress?

Or do you have a culture that only really values the performance at the end?
