Day #272 - Separation of Space

Wellbeing and Productivity

This morning my three year old asked me if this was a ‘worky’ day. He’s right: it is. Worky days mean less time for playing with the trains and fewer stories together. He usually balances this out by offering to help me with my work, to buy back our time together.

One of the big challenges of the pandemic, for our wellbeing and productivity, has been to maintain the separation of space when ‘work’ and ‘home’ have collapsed into one. But even when we are ‘back to the office’ it can be a challenge.

Social collaborative technology is designed to cut across boundaries, eroding that separation, and it take willpower (and sometimes permission - implicit or explicit) to cut it off.

Use your sixty seconds today to think about the separation of your spaces: do you have one space that is purely for work, and others that are absolutely for play. And can you clearly identity middle spaces too?

Social Leadership Daily is sixty seconds a day to be ‘in practice’. Part of a global community looking at themselves as Social Leaders within evolving systems.
