Day #283 - Finding Time

Or Watching the Clock
2

River woke up early this morning, obsessed with the time: yesterday we gave him a clock and he’s absolutely fascinated by it. As i huddled around my coffee this morning at some unseemly hour, he held his clock tightly, staring intently at the larger kitchen clock, and declared that both of them told the same time.

Then he asked me if the clock told me to go to work. Which i guess, after a fashion, it does.

Our lives can feel ruled by time: certainly it’s the number one challenge that people describe that they face when asked to change.

We learn about time, then we are ruled by it.

Use your sixty seconds today to consider how time runs in your day: does it rule it, structure it, constrain it, or enable? Do you ever feel you have too much of it, and do you feel you have much control of it?

If you are a leader in the formal Organisation, you could consider whether you give it to others, or take it away from them.

Sometimes we are all ruled by the clock, but perhaps that should not be all of the time: we may want to consider how we can escape watching the clock so closely.
