Day #342 - Scale

Energy through the system

Two aspects of systems are easy to envisage: the close and the distant, the large and the small, the micro and macro. The self and the system.

But much of our leadership happens in the middle space: between you and others, between teams and domains, at the intersections, through scale.

And this is the hard part: too big to be small, to wild to be controlled, to diverse to be perceived, to complex to be simple. Often too hard.

So we fall to easy answers.

But consider waves: energy that travels through a system. Ideas, behaviours, beliefs.

Use your sixty seconds today to consider this: how do those waves travel, from what you do, what you say, how you lead, through to the widest scale.

This is the smallest time, just sixty seconds, to consider the largest thing, how systems change, through story and belief. In waves.
