Day 454 - Authenticity of Kindness

Cost and Benefit

I’m sticking with the theme of kindness this week: it’s easy for us to dismiss it as somehow peripheral, or distanced from anything ‘serious’ about how Organisations work. As though kindness is a luxury or a ‘soft’ skill.

In truth, kindness is one of the key social currencies that give our communities coherence, and people consistently describe it as being very important for them in how they engage.

But how do we use it?

Those very same people also describe a very poor reaction to ‘inauthentic’ kindness. If it feels like it’s held in a system or process.

How can you be kind, and yet authentic. Or, indeed, should you be?

Use your sixty seconds today to consider what kindness costs, and what it gives.
