Last night i spoke with a group of students about ‘my story’, sharing a reflection on the pathway that i have taken and listening to them sharing theirs.
We find interest in others, can learn from each other, but ultimately each of us makes or own journey. Each of us acts with intent, and also reacts to circumstance. But we are not helpless in the storms.
Often we lack the time, the space, or even the permission (given, or claimed) to pause and look around, which is one reason why i put ‘curation’ at the start of Social Leadership. To curate your space - to look around and see what is right, and what needs to be addressed.
One of the students talked about their passion for the environment, and desire to make a difference, then saying “i don’t think i’ll change the world”. And yet we all change the world, through our smallest of actions, whether deliberate or irrational. We all stand in the light, and cast. Our shadows.
Today, a more philosophical or reflective question: use your sixty seconds to ask yourself, where do you stand?
What have you learnt from others on your way here, and how do you guide others from where you stand now?
And are you where you wish to be?
This is part of our dialogue with our own practice.
