The storms over the weekend have driven the sand up over the promenade: cycling along the seafront with River this morning was quite a challenge. The carefully curated divisions of our civilised infrastructure, the manicured beach, tidy bins, pavements and cafes are overlain with drifts of sand, seaweed, and driftwood, driven in by the tides.
Entropy is the dominant force: without care and attention, things degrade, dropping down through layers of order, to their constituent parts. There is a beauty in this, but also a reminder of what is natural, and what is created by our own will. That which will tend to itself, and that which requires our attention.
Use your sixty seconds today to consider what you will tend to this week.
I had a good week last week, writing in an uninterrupted flow. I aim to do some more this week, albeit with more meetings scattered through! The time away from here helped me find some balance. I hope you had a great week.
