I was at the Learning Awards last night in London, a chance to dress up and catch up with plenty of friends from across the years. A time of celebration.
I realised that many of those people are one who I have worked with, collaborated with, shared ideas with. A web of trust and mutual respect woven over maybe fifteen years. As I walked in the door, I felt at home, even though in reality I knew only a minority of the 850 people there.
Use your sixty seconds today to consider in which communities you feel welcome. And how you welcome people into your leadership communities.
In the Community Builder research, originally with 5k NHS practitioners in the UK, but replicated elsewhere, the ‘choreography of welcome and engagement’ was the factor that most influenced their belief in that community, and that helped them be most effective in their work with it.
I find it interesting that it’s people - not technology - that makes the difference.
I hope you’ve had a great week!
Welcome to Dina, Cathy, Anne Marie, Lev, Jack, Eleanor, Hayley, David, and everyone else who has joined us in this community this week. We are a community in dialogue with our practice, and you are very welcome in this space.
