Yesterday was a challenging day, running the session on the Organisation as Ecosystem. I’m not really sure why: I know this work well, but it is intense, and emotional at times, sharing the Identity Project stories, and trying to hold a safe space.
In some ways I’m pleased with how tiring it was: my aim with this work is to carry people outside their everyday reality, to look at the world through a different lens, and in this sense, the energy we put into it is energy invested.
But today I’m glad to be home, not least because the lemons are thriving.
It’s a small victory: the lemon seeds I planted on New Years Day did nothing for two months, until I was about to throw them out, then suddenly they all sprouted, and with some vigour. They love the light on the library window cills and are reaching for the sky. So it’s a small triumph for my poor propagation skills, but gives me some satisfaction and joy.
These are the days: energy in, energy out.
Use your sixty seconds today to consider this: where do you invest your energy, and where do you earn it?
It is, of course, complex. But it helps us to understand that we can only spend what we have earned, and that everything has a cost, in time, efforts, or shadows.
