We went for a walk on Easter Sunday, out into the park, with a picnic of hot cross buns and a flask of hot chocolate. It really was a beautiful day, until it came time to walk back, whereupon the clouds opened and we got caught out in a heavy shower.
Whilst it would be easy to see this as spoiling the day, as I looked at the golden new leaves on the oak trees, the apple and cherry blossoms, and the patterns of ripples on the puddles, I realised that it was really to be welcomed. With a hot week coming up, the garden will flourish, but more importantly, it caused some smiles.
Meadow has opted to wear her smart purple shoes, instead of her wellies, so I rolled my eyes as she kept one eye firmly fixed on me whilst wading into the nearest puddle, with an enormous smile on her face. Neither of the children complained about the rain: for them it was an opportunity.
The rain cleanses, and refreshes, albeit also causing mild inconvenience.
Use your sixty seconds today to consider how the rain washes through your Culture: what does it wash clean, and what puddles does it leave behind. And who is smiling.
