In the context of Social Leadership, sharing is an investment: the way we share our time, our uncertainty, our resources, our doubt, our story. Each of these things creates space or opportunity around it: if a leader is able to share a vulnerability, it may create space for others to share theirs.
But where do we share?
Use your sixty seconds today to ask yourself these questions:
What do i share most often? Is it knowledge, biscuits, or time? Or something else?
What is most often shared with me - and how do i recognise it, value it, or reciprocate?
If you want to reflect more upon this, ask yourself if there is a pattern to your sharing: do you share more when you have more time, when you are winning, or on a Friday?
As is often the case in our reflective practice, this exercise may not cause you to do anything different, so much as to be meta-cognitive about what you already do, and hence to balance that picture against your aspiration.
