I’d rather forgotten about the avocado seed I planted back in February. The previous six had all gone mouldy and failed, and this one showed no signs of doing anything different, so just kind of forgot about it. Until yesterday, when I passed it’s sad pot on the office windowsill, and realised it has burst into life, pushing up a vigorous six inch shoot.
Sometimes all it takes is time.
Time is a strange commodity: the #1 thing that people think they lack, the thing they ask for, and the thing most easily (and often enjoyably, wasted. It is also, of course, the great leveller, in that all of us experience the same number of hours within the day (although the ability to buy in domestic support, a personal chef, and cleaner, may make a bit of a difference to the experience…).
Use your sixty seconds today to consider your time, today.
Just as a rough estimate, how much of it is being stolen, how much is invested, how much is wasted, and how much is directly under your control?
What does it cost you to have these sixty seconds? Have you hidden them away, snatched them from somewhere else? Relish them, or regret them?
I hope you’ve had a great week, and look forward to the weekend.
