Day #776 - Back to Work
Habit and Routine
Being largely offline for three weeks was both a joy and an alert. The joy was the space it liberated to read, to play games, cook, and travel, and the alert was how often I reached for my phone or thought about something to do on my return.
We travelled a thousand miles of back country roads, camping up the length of the country, till we reached Hadrian’s Wall, whereupon we looped back and headed south.
For the children, it must have felt like a lifetime: for the first week Meadow kept asking why we were not going home, but by the end we were in our own little bubble and routine, and the return itself felt quite daunting.
For me, as ever, I try to keep some of the healthy holiday routine going, and avoid re-tethering myself to technology too fast.
In this space we will continue our dialogue with our own leadership practice.
Use your sixty seconds today to consider routines: what helps you to thrive, and what has become simply a habit or a trap.
