Day #782 - Rain, Rain
Welcoming the rain
It rained hard as we cycled to school this morning. River remained unremittingly cheerful about it, as he always does. I can never once remember him complaining about being cold or wet when we cycle. For someone still so small, he is remarkably stoic.
He used the time to talk to me about the rain, and what it gives us.
The rain washes the beach huts clean, so we can see their beautiful colours.
The rain washes the sand lying on the promenade into a smooth canvas, upon which we carve patterns with our wheels.
The rain makes the sunshine look brighter.
The rain makes our home green, and he hopes it falls in other countries too, to make them green.
It made me thing of transitions: from wet to dry, from the old to the new. We talk about things being washed away, or washed clean, and clean starts.
Use your sixty seconds today to consider this: what does the rain give to you?
Within our cultures, communities, tribes, what gets washed away, what gets made brighter.

Thank you River for your beautiful thinking and Julian for your exquisite listening and sharing :-)
