Social Leaders seek to leave with less: on days when you are winning, or on days when you have been beaten down.
Leaving with less is not about loss, but rather investment and finding value. But what can you give away?
The easiest thing is gratitude: to reach out and share words of gratitude, with a context - this is why i am grateful, and this is why - what did it enable you to do? So the thing you give away is a word, ‘Thanks’.
Another thing to give away is your own uncertainty: this is harder - to say ‘you may believe i have answers, but actually what i am carrying is uncertainty’. You could give this gift of uncertainty upwards, to your leaders, or down, to your teams - and by doing so you may create space for others to share or support.
A final thing you can give away is a belief: something you have held onto past it’s useful life. Something that perhaps used to be true, but is now less so.
Use your sixty seconds today to consider how you can leave with less, and whether that leaves you stronger or not.
