The start of the year is often a time to look forward: what will be different, what will we carry forward, what can be left behind?
As we do so, it’s worth thinking about the spaces that change takes place within: ourselves, our communities, our Organisations, as well as the timeframes on which it happens: today, tomorrow, next year.
Use this reflection to consider where your footsteps land, and how you will measure the change: will it be through the small imprints you leave in every day, or the changes in the overall landscape around you?
Organisations often deal in the macro: transformation, projects, shifts and trends. In the Quiet Leadership work we think about the micro: how can you make a difference through the smallest of actions.
Use your sixty seconds today to consider your footsteps, and where you will be looking as you travel. Will your focus be on your individual actions, or the broader structural change?
This is important to ground us, and to maintain momentum: if we are always focussed on broad landscapes we can lose connection to the immediate.
A change you can make for sixty seconds every day may only be small, but through small actions we can change everything.
I have a new Quiet Leadership journey starting on the 24th January - if you want to join me to explore leadership through the smallest of actions, you can sign up here. A four week journey that is completely free, and open to everyone.
