Taking a week away from here felt valuable (despite feeling slightly guilty). I spent three days with Sae, focussed on the Planetary Philosophy book, and made a great deal of progress with it. In fact i managed a complete pass, start to finish, through the manuscript, and whilst there is some work still to do, it’s very close to completion.
The time also allowed me to broaden my focus: almost inevitably when we are charging along, we are looking at what lies right in front of our feet. But Changing focus permits us to take a broader view.
Within this broader landscape, it was easier for me to see how threads are converging. Once the Planetary work is done, i will move more strongly into the Social Leadership work again, with a new layer of ideas gaining strength.
Use your sixty seconds today to consider how you focus: when that focus is narrow and tight, and when it is broader.
What permits you to find these views? Time? Deadlines? Holidays? Company? Community? Chocolate? Or something else.
And are you able to support others to find this space too?
I wrote a while ago about ‘disorientation and imperfection’ in learning, which was a parallel idea, about the value in shifting our context.
