Perhaps the humility we need is humility distributed throughout a system: a system that listens as much as it talks.
I wrote that to talk about a system that finds strength from within: not through hero leaders, but simply leaders. Simple leaders. The people within the system, who care enough to tend to the system.
Part of this strength is to listen: use your sixty seconds today to consider how you listen. And where.
It’s easy to listen when what we hear confirms our truth, but much harder when it disputes or negates it.
It’s also easy to mistake silence for lack of things that we should be listening to: sometimes the challenge of leadership is to walk out and find the quiet voices.
