I recently started reading "Clear Thinking" by Shane Parrish and, coincidentally, I highlighted several things on the subject of being wrong last night. There's a section in which he focuses on the ego frequently being in the way of rational decision-making, noting that "Our desire to feel right overpowers our desire to be right.". And it's human nature for us to react, especially when it feels like we need to defend a position. I noted down that a useful reflection question would be to consider how we approach situations when we think we might be wrong... so this is good timing!
I found this really interesting, as I can also be stubborn, and highly sceptical, when people say things that don't fit with what I think I know.
A very useful thing to think about!
