Day 469 - Perspectives (and Sisters)

How do you find them (perspectives that is, not sisters, who just turn up)?

I’ve been so proud of River as he learns to read. Our first books were really just collections of simple words, like ‘tip - tap - pat’, but already we have graduated onto books with simple stories. To recognise his hard work, we went to the bookshop together and chose a new book to read for fun, and he chose one called ‘When i became your sister’ (which we have now read with his sister!)

This book is a story intended to give a child a glimpse into someone else’s perspective. A chance to hear how they see the world, and to consider how that aligns to your view - indeed we already talked about the page that talks about how sometimes we disagree, but are still best friends. The two racoons in the book are sitting facing away from each other - much as the two children were when we read it.

Use your sixty seconds today to consider how you gain sight of other people’s perspective.

Do you wait for them to tell you, or hear it second hand, do you guess, or find a convenient book that tells you?

Our community around Social Leadership Daily continues to grow: whether you have been here from Day 1, or have just joined, you are very welcome in this space.
