Day #538 - Lighthouses

Between lost and found

There’s a lighthouse just offshore.

Lighthouses are funny things: you want to be close enough to see them, to navigate by them, but far enough away to avoid the hazards that they mark. They both entice and repel.

We are surrounded by these types of waypoints: signs and styles that draw us closer or push us away. Telling us what to do, drawing us in, or indicating what to avoid.

Use your sixty seconds today to consider the lighthouses that surround you.

These may be diverse: written signage, unwritten rules, role models and heroes, the folklore of folk who failed.

Consider how you carefully pick your path between these things, and the risks that entail should you venture too close, or fall too far away.
