In the original NET model of Social Leadership, the ninth and final part of the model was ‘Collaboration’. It represented the notion that Social Leadership is about collective capability and hence the role of the leader to enable and facilitate, or earn, this.
Today i would probably either substitute this, or include next to it, the notion of ‘Interconnection’, the language i introduced in ‘The Socially Dynamic Organisation’.
Use your sixty seconds today to think about collaboration.
How much is it about team structures, formal process, and defined task, and how much is it about trust, community, networks, purpose, and belief.
Or perhaps there are other words that you would use?
Is collaboration a formal feature of a well crafted system, a social feature of a highly cohesive community one, or something else?
